The University of North Carolina is composed of the 16 public institutions of higher education in North Carolina. The campuses, located across the state and ranging in student size from under 1,000 to over 30,000, are characterized by diversity. Each campus has its own unique program offerings, campus life and historical background. An extraordinarily wide range of academic and research opportunities are available throughout the UNC System. With a total student population of over 185,000, the University offers over 275 degree programs at the undergraduate and graduate level.
